This year, Lou’s Place celebrates 25 years of providing community, compassion and dignity for thousands of women. The special milestone was marked with a celebration on 5 June 2024 by donors, staff and friends, past and present, all of whom have played some part in its 25-year story.
Lou’s Place is Sydney’s only community-based day-time refugee for women and provides free meals, drop in services including legal and medical aid, individual case management and therapeutic group work programs. It is a low-barrier centre which means even if clients are still struggling with addiction and mental health issues they still will be welcomed.
The Ottomin Foundation commends all who have contributed to the success of Lou’s Place, whether through time, resources or sharing their own story. Everybody’s involvement, whether small or large, has played some role in shaping Lou’s Place and the vital service it has provided and continues to provide by serving and empowering women who face issues of homelessness, domestic violence, mental health or addiction.
