The Ottomin Foundation was delighted to be involved in the biennial Rainbow Club Aqua Awards on 20 October 2021. The Rainbow Club is a network of social swimming clubs for children with disability. Every two years the club holds a special awards ceremony to recognise the voluntary contributions made by aqua teachers, committee members and in-pool volunteers.
From nominations submitted by parents, teachers and Rainbow Club members, the judging panel, which included Ottomin Foundation Committee member, Kristy Campbell, had the tough job of determining the ultimate winners and runners-up in each of the three award categories.
All nominees received praise for their patience, dedication and acts of kindness in delivering the Rainbow Club swim program. Many expressed the tireless work of the teachers and volunteers who provide lessons, manage logistics and generally keep each of the clubs open each week. Parents also noted the feelings of appreciation for such caring teachers, who help soothe the anxiety that many of the children often experience when they first start in the pool.
The Ottomin Foundation congratulates the outstanding recipients of 2021 and thanks them for the role they play in the unique Rainbow Club program.
